National Loneliness Awareness Week 2025

Creating connections

Monday 9th June 2025. This week is national Loneliness Awareness Week, with a focus on raising awareness of the impact of loneliness on every aspect of our lives.

It’s all about creating supportive communities across the country by having open, honest conversations. And nowhere is this conversation more important than in North Devon where around 10% of adults report feeling lonely “often” or “always”, higher than the England national average of 7%.

Combatting loneliness is the specific aim of The Woodyard project. Over the past few months, we’ve been busy working behind the scenes, and speaking with a range of charity and community organisations, to identify the best way forward to help foster social connections and create a space ‘where people come together and don’t feel lonely”.

Based on our findings, the good news is that we will be launching a new initiative in July 2025 to help address this issue. Details to follow soon so watch this space!
